There is a lot of talk right now about how uncertain the future is. The global pandemic, the ongoing search for racial justice, the upcoming US election…not to mention all the specific-to-you stressors in your life that aren’t even waiting for the future, they’re here right now! But the truth is, life is full of uncertainty. It might feel like the uncertainty meter is turned up to number 11 (or 11,000!) at the moment, but bringing yourself back to the present moment – the here and now – is just one way you can ground yourself and begin to gain some more clarity and certainty.
When we have had to make so many changes (Do we send our kids to school or go virtual? Do we go to work or work from home? Do we risk losing our job if we have to look after an elderly family member instead?) that our brains are scrambling to look for things that are staying the same. The consistent, repetitive, go-to events that bring us calm because we can predict exactly how we are going to think and feel when we know what these events have made us think and feel in the past. We are living in a world full of expectations that are dashed, plans that have been altered or even straight up cancelled with no chance of reproduction. No wonder we feel so shook up!
I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about how I can help all you educarers out there who are usually pretty stressed but now with a global pandemic on top it’s like icing on the cake that tastes more like poison. I have spent a long time working out how I can help people when I’m not in a classroom setting. How can I support you when I have no idea what you’re going through?
And then I remembered, that’s what I LOVE about coaching! I don’t have to know the ins and outs to all your problems, worries and stressors. I am there to literally coach you – to guide, support and hold your hand through this crazy time. You can tell me all your problems and although I might not be able to fix them, I can certainly help you shift your mindset and see things differently. When we are feeling overwhelmed, the biggest things that help are often not the solutions to the problems. Yes, it would be wonderful if Covid could just disappear tomorrow, but then what new stress would come into your life to replace it? The one thing that you take with you no matter your problems is your brain. And that is where I definitely can help you play around with your thoughts and feelings and support you with your problems.
The first way I am going to do this is with a special group coaching program that starts next Monday! Here are some of the details to get you excited:
Play with Your Brain: Overwhelm $49 Start date: October 5th
Four week coaching program – each week is released separately so you don’t become overwhelmed or lose track of where you are. You need just 5-10 minutes per day to action the teachings within this course. You will get a new strategy each week that builds upon the previous one.
You get a 1:1 coaching session with me each week to help you understand the material on a deeper level and keep going and growing, asking any questions you have along the way.
Facebook group with other participants for community support – you are not alone!
Workbooks to help guide you through each teaching tool that you can keep and use again in the future whenever overwhelm sneaks up on you.
It is 100% possible for you to manage everything on your plate and feel better right now. You CAN show up as YOU first and a teacher second. ‘You can’t pour from an empty cup’ is not just a catchy phrase. It is the truth. Putting yourself first is not selfish, it is crucial for being able to live that playful, balanced life you strive for every day. We are all human and sometimes we are going to feel amazing and sometimes we are going to feel awful. Life really is 50/50. But once we learn how to handle each side of that 50/50, not being afraid of whatever possible thing 2020 is going to throw at us next, then we can feel fully alive and have our own backs. We can feel all the feelings and know that no matter what, we will make it through.
I know what it’s like to be an overwhelmed person and through my journey I now know and understand the strategies needed to tackle these thoughts and feelings so that I can handle any circumstance. When I start to feel stressed, I know tools and tricks that help me to find that inner voice that knows just what to say to help me feel better. I know what triggers my overwhelm, depression and anxiety and now I know how to challenge those thoughts, so I don’t ruminate and have them consume me. I know exercises, strategies and tools that help me to better understand myself, others and then choose what I want to think and feel in the present and in the future. I want to share these with you so you can fill your own cup first!
If this sounds like something you want in your life right now, fill out my interest form so I can get you on my list first. This course will have a limited number of participants so I can ensure I have enough time to coach you all individually as well as within the group community we will create. I am so excited to share all the research-backed strategies with you and coach you through them each week.
